Darren Power is an Irish artist, and has worked for many years in the animation and computer games industry in Europe, USA, and Asia. Born in Waterford, Darren was drawn to art from a very young age and became involved in community and commissioned painting projects in public spaces. He is self-taught and sold and exhibited his solo work through the Harrison Gallery in Dublin. After several years of living in Europe he moved to Vietnam in 2000 where he currently lives with his family.
Influenced by the rich history, sculpture and architecture of Asia, Europe and South America, Darren has produced a large collection of acrylic paintings that explore the iconic figures that pervade myths and legends. Most of his work depicts stone and wood, and the 3-Dimensional quality inherent in the paint is produced by this attention to texture and form.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of having my paintings chosen to be featured on the covers of DVD's by Prof. B. Alan Wallace.
Dynamic lecturer, progressive scholar, and one of the most prolific writers and translators of Tibetan Buddhism in the West, Prof. B. Alan Wallace continually seeks innovative ways to integrate Buddhist contemplative practices with Western science to advance the study of the mind.
Dr. Wallace, a scholar and practitioner of Buddhism since 1970, has taught Buddhist theory and meditation worldwide since 1976. Having devoted fourteen years to training as a Tibetan Buddhist monk, ordained by H. H. the Dalai Lama, he went on to earn an undergraduate degree in physics and the philosophy of science at Amherst College and a doctorate in religious studies at Stanford.
With his unique background, Alan brings deep experience and applied skills to the challenge of integrating traditional Indo-Tibetan Buddhism with the modern world.
